JOB DESCRIPTION

Valere Power develops industry leading DC Power Systems with the highest power density in the communications industry. Our systems are modular and scalable, allowing our customers a great degree of flexibility in meeting the needs of their applications.

Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the successful candidate will have responsibility for value analysis of purchased components and materials, evaluation of alternate materials, assuring engineering focus on purchasing cost reductions and/or product improvement projects, and integrating purchasing in the resolution of quality and service issues.

The Procurement Engineer provides support in the selection, qualification and monitoring of new suppliers and processes, investigates technology trends and product roadmaps, and integrates them into commodity strategies and product development plans, and supports development of a global supplier base. The Procurement Engineer will be a focal point for document control and configuration management functions, will work with internal/external vendor/suppliers to resolve component or specification discrepancies.

Applies engineering, manufacturing, and quality expertise to reduce cost, cycle time, and drive efficiencies. Works closely with supplier engineering on cost reduction projects, and helps to prepare formal reports on “root cause” of product failures and recommend corrective action. The Procurement Engineer will be involved in the implementation and maintenance of Supplier Quality Surveys and reports of Supplier Quality improvements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum four years relevant experience with specific experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Product development, manufacturing engineering, program management, quality, or operations management. Experience in industry involving precision electrical and mechanical components and sensitive processes is highly desirable. Excellent knowledge of manufacturing systems, repair process and procedures, quality improvement programs and design for manufacturability concepts. Experience developing product cost models and forecasting future cost position based on product forecasts, technology roadmaps, global manufacturing trends and other data. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and leadership skills required along with an ability to establish effective partnerships with suppliers and internal customers.

  • Must have experience with documentation systems, CAD systems, and design tools.
  • Quoting standard “off-the-shelf” parts to support NPI (New Product Introduction).
  • Demonstrable experience in resolving component related issues. These issues can include qualification, end of life, substitution & failure analysis.
  • Must have experience working in a Contract Manufacturing/Document Control environment handling change orders and change implementation.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate clearly on technical topics and issues at an engineering and business level.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills.
  • Understanding of Supply Chain practices.
