VALERE POWER HIRES INDUSTRY VETERANS TO EXPAND PENETRATION OF WIRELESS, WIRE LINE TELECOMMUNICATIONS POWER MARKETS

RICHARDSON, TX — March 18, 2004 — Valere Power, a leading provider of DC power systems, today announced the hiring of telecommunications industry veterans Michael Kania and Mark Rock as directors of business development, to help the company keep pace with its rapid growth in the wireless and wire line telecommunications industries. They both report to Al Cioffi, Valere’s vice president of business development.

Valere Power has grown rapidly over the last year as carriers seek the company’s compact and more efficient power plant for new DSL and 3G networks. The company has patented DC power technology that dissipates 35% less heat, resulting in systems that are 50% smaller than industry norms.

“Carriers are feeling pressure to expand power capacity for next-generation networks and to re-engineer their power systems for higher reliability, a situation that provides a great opportunity for Valere Power’s high-efficiency power systems,” Cioffi said. “With the hiring of Mike and Mark, we get experienced team players that know how to open up markets with the carriers, OEMs, and integrators.”

Kania will head up expansion in the wireless network market, which has become one of the company’s fastest growing industry segments. Kania has nearly 35 years of experience in the telecommunications market, working in roles of increasing responsibility at various divisions of Lucent Technologies including its power systems group. Most recently, he was vice president of product management for Lucent’s Broadband Access business, responsible for product portfolio that included the AnyMedia Access System and the Stinger DSLAM. Kania has a Bachelor of electrical engineering degree from the City College of New York and a Master of Science degree in engineering management from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Rock will direct business development efforts focused on wire line carriers, leveraging his seven years of experience developing telecommunications infrastructure products. Most recently, he was the senior manager of the infrastructure group at Alcatel, directing the company’s development of outside plant enclosures used in fiber-optic and DSL broadband applications. Prior to Alcatel, Rock held a variety of manufacturing engineering positions with Texas Instruments. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA.
