POWER CUTS POWER SYSTEM SIZE IN HALF WITH 1RU-HIGH MINI DC POWER SYSTEM
New AC/DC system powers VoIP, PoE, Blade Server, Metro Ethernet and other
high-power, space-constrained services

RICHARDSON, TX — June 21,
2004 — Valere Power, an innovative provider of power infrastructure
for the telecommunications industry, today announced the Mini DC Power
System, the first high-power and modular AC/DC power system to fit in a
one rack unit (1RU – 1.6 inches)-high package.
The Mini DC Power System is designed for applications where power concentration
is high and space is constrained, such Voice over IP (VoIP), power over
Ethernet (PoE), blade-based server or router farms, metropolitan Ethernet,
customer premise routing, or remote-terminal deployed broadband services.
It delivers from 10 to 160 amps of current, and cuts by half the rack
space needed for this power level.
The Valere Power Mini DC Power system is based on Valere’s new H-Series
Rectifier, which utilizes Valere’s patented 93% efficient power
conversion technology that dissipates 35% less heat than conventional
technology.
“Next-generation services are all facing the same dynamic – the
equipment is denser with more processors that need more power, but at the
same time rack space is at a premium so the idea of a mini power system
is of high interest to carriers and enterprises,” said Greg Fasullo,
Valere co-founder and chief technology officer. “Our Mini DC Power
system underscores Valere’s commitment to providing the market with
solutions that cost-effectively meet the needs for more power in less space.”
The debut of the Mini DC Power System also marks Valere’s continuing
penetration into the enterprise OEM market. The company is in discussions
with manufacturers of large networking and computing systems to embed
the system within their equipment.
The Mini DC Power System is configured for front-to-back airflow and
supports 12V, 24V and 48V output voltages and power levels from 500
watts to 8,000 watts to respond to the different needs of telecom and
enterprise
equipment configurations.
The system has built-in network intelligence including a front-panel
controller that gives system status information, and an optional SNMP-based
network management console that can provide monitoring information and
the ability to change parameters and run battery tests remotely.
The system also features flexible options for distributing power to
equipment, including bulk DC power, ability to split into two voltage
feeds, or the ability to connect to separate distribution.
For telecommunications applications, the Mini DC Power System is NEBS
Level 3 compliant and has back-up battery interface capabilities, including
options for breakers, fuses and low voltage disconnects that are required
in customer premise or remote terminal applications
AVAILABILITY
The Mini DC Power System is available now.
