| VALERE POWER RAISES ADDITIONAL $6 MILLION TO FUND ENTRY
INTO NEW MARKETS
JPMORGAN PARTNERS CO-LEADS $17-MILLION SERIES C INVESTMENT
ROUND WITH SIERRA VENTURES
RICHARDSON, TX - Aug. 22, 2003
- Valere Power, an innovative provider of power infrastructure
for the telecommunications industry, today announced JPMorgan Partners,
the private equity arm of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., has invested $6
million in the company's Series C financing round, increasing the total
raised in this round to $17 million.
The company's third financing round was co-lead by
JPMorgan Partners and existing investor Sierra Ventures. Sierra lead the
raising of $11 million from existing investors Alcatel Ventures and Dali,
Hook Partners that was announced on Feb. 25. The company has raised a
total of $33.5 million in capital since its founding in 2001.
Valere will use the latest investment to fund its
expansion into European and Asian markets and to introduce its products
to enterprise markets.
"We have aggressively expanded our product line
this year and have seen tremendous acceptance by our U.S. carrier customers.
Now is the time to leverage that success overseas and with major enterprise
OEMs," said Andy Marsh, president and CEO of Valere Power. "We

Chris Albinson, a principle at JPMorgan Partners and
the head of communications infrastructure investment at the firm will
join Valere's board of directors.

Valere Power leverages its patented power conversion
technology to develop a line of power systems that are 50% smaller and
dissipate 35% less heat than competing products. To date the company has
launched the Compact DC Power System and the Integrated Power System for
telecommunications applications, including remote broadband, wireless
and IP network installations.
